The Team

Planck Power was founded by operators, not optimists. Our team brings decades of experience from energy markets, battery physics, and institutional finance. All three founders are named inventors on the company’s provisional patent, filed January 2026.

J. Robert “Bo” Collins Jr.

Chief Executive Officer | Co-Founder | Named Inventor

Bo Collins built his career at the center of American energy infrastructure. As Head of Natural Gas Trading at El Paso Merchant Energy, he led the largest natural gas trading desk in the early deregulated U.S. energy markets and played a foundational role in the emergence of wholesale electricity and gas trading following FERC Order 888.

As President of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), he directed the world’s leading energy futures exchange during a critical period of expansion, overseeing benchmark contracts in natural gas, crude oil, and refined products.

He subsequently founded Mercantile Bank International, the first U.S.-licensed bank to serve, transmit, and hold digital assets, pioneering regulatory frameworks for institutional custody and settlement.

At Planck Power, Bo brings the operational discipline and market structure expertise of someone who has spent three decades building the systems that the energy industry runs on.

Christopher Wilson

President & Chief Inventor | Co-Founder | Named Inventor

Chris Wilson is the architect of the SLM-X dual-ion chemistry. His career in advanced energy technology spans 25 years, beginning at Eveready Battery Company, where he specialized in powdered metal processing, cathode design, lithium battery production, and membrane technology. He is co-inventor on a seminal patent for segmented nickel-hydrogen battery architecture.

He founded HSM Systems, a startup focused on breakthrough chemical processes, where he collaborated with the University of New Brunswick to develop novel methods for ammonia-based chemical production using supercritical fluids. This work laid the scientific foundation for the electrolyte system at the core of SLM-X.

Chris has served as CTO of an energy storage startup focused on large-scale flow batteries, giving him direct experience with the engineering and commercial challenges of scaling novel battery chemistries. He holds 10+ patents across batteries, chemical reactors, and energy systems.

William “Liam” Murphy

Acting Chief Financial Officer | Co-Founder | Named Inventor
